Automotive software developer Sonatus has recently established a new research and development (R&D) and engineering center in Dublin, Ireland. This move marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to expand its global presence and enhance its capabilities in the rapidly evolving automotive software industry.
The Sonatus Vehicle Platform, a cutting-edge software solution, is already integrated into over 1 million vehicles manufactured by Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis. With a strong foothold in the market, Sonatus has attracted substantial investments totaling over $110 million from key industry players such as Foxconn, Hyundai Motor Group’s Kia, LG Electronics, Marvell, NEC, SAIC Capital, and UMC Capital.
According to Jeff Chou, co-founder and CEO of Sonatus, the demand for advanced software technology in vehicles is on the rise. Chou emphasized the company's commitment to collaborating with automotive manufacturers and suppliers to meet the evolving needs of consumers. The decision to establish an R&D and engineering center in Ireland underscores Sonatus's dedication to delivering innovative solutions on a global scale.
The Dublin center is led by a local management team, with Marc Synnot appointed as the General Manager. Synnot, who previously worked at TikTok, brings a wealth of experience to his role and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Ireland office. The multidisciplinary team at the center will collaborate closely with other design centers worldwide, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Commenting on the strategic significance of the new center, Synnot highlighted the growing opportunities in the realm of software-defined vehicles. He emphasized the importance of seamless collaboration between automotive manufacturers and technology experts like Sonatus in navigating the complexities of this evolving landscape. By leveraging Ireland's pool of skilled engineering talent, Sonatus aims to strengthen its position in the European market and beyond, forging new partnerships and driving continued growth.
