Synopsys ARC Core Receives TṺV Certification for Automotive Cybersecurity

The Synopsys ARC HS4xFS Processor IP has made history by becoming the first IP product in the industry to receive ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity certification. This significant achievement highlights Synopsys' commitment to meeting the stringent requirements of the new automotive standard, providing a crucial advantage for automotive designers.

Synopsys has not only secured certification for its interface, security, and processor IP development processes but has also obtained third-party validation for compliance with the ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard. This certification plays a vital role in helping designers adhere to the mandated UN R155 regulation, ensuring that connected vehicles are safeguarded against potential cyber threats.

The ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity certification, awarded by SGS-TṺV Saar, signifies that Synopsys has met the rigorous automotive regulatory standards aimed at protecting connected vehicles from malicious cyberattacks. Tobias Hörmann, Product Manager of Cybersecurity at SGS-TṺV Saar, emphasized the importance of such certifications in light of the increasing vulnerabilities in connected cars.

The ARC HS4xFS Processors are not only cybersecurity certified but also hold ISO 26262 certification, meeting ASIL D Random and ASIL D Systematic compliance for safety-critical systems. This dual certification underscores the processors' reliability and safety features, making them a trusted choice for automotive applications.

Joerg Schepers, Vice President for Automotive Microcontrollers at Infineon, stressed the significance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the robustness of ISO 21434 compliant solutions. He highlighted the critical role of suppliers like Synopsys in upholding security best practices throughout the development process, from IP creation to final vehicle assembly.

John Koeter, senior vice president of product management and strategy for IP at Synopsys, emphasized the company's dedication to cybersecurity in the automotive industry.
