Morse Micro has made a significant breakthrough in the realm of wireless technology by introducing the world's first router that seamlessly integrates WiFi 4 (802.11n) with the long-range HaLow standard. The company is now gearing up to launch a European version of this innovative router, known as the HaLowLink 1 gateway, priced at $99. This groundbreaking device has received certifications from Wi-Fi Alliance, FCC, IC, and RCM, making it suitable for a wide range of Internet of Things applications.

One of the key features of the HaLowLink 1 gateway is its utilization of the HaLow standard, which enables WiFi connections in sub-GHz bands with impressive ranges of up to 3km in urban areas and 16km in rural settings. Powered by Morse MM6108 chips, the gateway also incorporates the Mediatek MT7621A dual-core CPU and MT7603E 2x2 Wi-Fi 4 chipset, allowing for seamless integration with legacy WiFi devices. This enables the device to support WiFi 4 speeds of up to 300Mbps at a 40MHz bandwidth, as well as WiFi HaLow speeds of 32Mbps at an 8MHz bandwidth.

While Morse Micro has developed the HaLowLink 1 gateway, another company, PureRF, has already introduced a gateway specifically designed for the HaLow standard. This demonstrates the increasing focus on developing reliable and interoperable Wi-Fi HaLow products within the connectivity ecosystem. Maureen Gallagher, VP of Marketing at Wi-Fi Alliance, emphasized the significance of the HaLowLink 1 certification, highlighting the extended range and low-power capabilities of WiFi HaLow for IoT applications.

The HaLowLink 1 gateway serves as a versatile access point, enabling the creation of HaLow networks at 900MHz in the US, while also providing connectivity for existing 2.4GHz WiFi 4, Ethernet, and Ethernet-over-USB devices. Additionally, the gateway can be utilized as an extender in central networks to offer 2.4GHz WiFi and Ethernet connectivity to devices located in challenging environments, linking them back to the central network via WiFi HaLow.

Michael De Nil, co-founder and CEO of Morse Micro, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of the world's first Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi HaLow CERTIFIED gateway, emphasizing the device's ability to facilitate exploration of the extended-range and low-power connectivity benefits of WiFi HaLow. The HaLowLink 1 gateway is currently certified for operation in North America, Canada, and Australia, with plans to expand its availability to the EMEA market at 868MHz and the Asia market in the near future.

Developers and enterprises can now acquire the Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi HaLow CERTIFIED gateway for $99 through Mouser, providing them with an affordable and robust solution to delve into this cutting-edge technology. The availability of the HaLowLink 1 gateway marks a significant milestone in the evolution of wireless connectivity, offering users a powerful tool to harness the capabilities of WiFi HaLow for diverse applications.
