With its MT8000A Radio Communication Test Station and MX773000PC Open Distributed Unit (O-DU) Emulator Platform Software, Anritsu is collaborating with LITEON to verify their Open Radio Units (O-RUs), working together to advance O-RAN technology development.

LITEON specializes in providing 5G private network products, such as Sub-6 GHz O-RUs that adhere to O-RAN standards. The company has successfully completed integration testing with various commercial DU/CU vendors. By integrating software, firmware, and hardware, LITEON assists operators and telecommunication service providers in achieving enhanced flexibility within an open architecture, thereby expediting O-RAN deployment.

Unlike traditional Radio Access Networks (RANs) that rely on communication devices from a single supplier, Open RAN interfaces are now being introduced to devices. This introduction enables the creation of more cost-effective, flexible, and scalable RANs, revolutionizing the telecommunications industry.

As an active member of the Open Radio Access Network Alliance (O-RAN Alliance), Anritsu offers comprehensive testing solutions for both wireless and wired communication quality for mobile operators and wireless infrastructure equipment suppliers who are part of the Alliance. The MT8000A test system supports non-signaling RF testing for 5G NR mmWave and Sub-6 GHz base stations, compliant with 3GPP TS38.141-1 and TS38.141-2 specifications, reducing testing time and cost during the fabrication of 5G BTS radio units. The MX772000PC software enables automated O-RU testing, while the MX773000PC simulates O-DU operations, connects O-RUs, and performs O-RAN.WG4.CONF testing to meet O-RAN Fronthaul specifications.

Richard Chiang, General Manager of Smart Life Applications SBU at LITEON, emphasized, “Anritsu is a crucial partner for LITEON in advancing 5G base station development testing to product verification. Anritsu's test equipment accelerates the quality and stability validation of our Sub-6 RU M-Plane, CU-Plane, and automated testing. LITEON remains dedicated to delivering comprehensive 5G solutions to support the industry in promoting O-RAN open architecture and assisting customers in advancing commercial deployment.”

Ivan Chen, General Manager of Anritsu Taiwan, further added, “LITEON plays a pivotal role as a partner for Anritsu in promoting O-RAN technology. This collaboration showcases Anritsu’s proficiency in verifying mobile communication technology, meeting diverse testing requirements, and fully supporting 5G O-RAN tests, positioning us at the forefront of testing technology.”
