Nexperia, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, has recently unveiled two cutting-edge high current 12V electronic fuses that are set to revolutionize the industry. The NPS3102A and NPS3102B eFuse devices boast a low-ohmic (17 mΩ) design and high current capacity of 13.5 A, making them ideal for a wide range of applications.

These resettable electronic fuses play a crucial role in safeguarding downstream loads from excessive voltages and protecting power supplies from potential faults and large inrush currents. The innovative use of a low resistance FET in the design allows for automatic device reset, ensuring seamless operation even in the event of a fault.

Designed specifically for 12V hot-swap applications, the NPS3102A and NPS3102B eFuses cater to a diverse array of industries, including enterprise communication, data centers, mobile communications infrastructure, and industrial automation. Their versatility makes them indispensable components in devices such as solid-state drives, servers, ethernet switches, 5G radio-heads, and programmable logic controllers.

One of the standout features of these eFuse devices is their wide input voltage range of up to 21 V abs. max, coupled with an integrated low-resistance pass MOSFET that minimizes voltage drop and power loss. This unique design not only enhances operational efficiency but also sets them apart from competing devices in the market.

Moreover, users have the flexibility to adjust the current clamp limit within the 2–13.5 A range using a resistor at the ILIM pin, enabling real-time monitoring of load current. The built-in overvoltage clamp provides added protection by limiting the output voltage in the event of an input overvoltage condition, with an impressive 2 μs short-circuit protection response time.
