After a successful tenure at Lattice where he spearheaded corporate strategy resulting in record operating profits and gross margins, Jim Anderson is set to take on a new challenge as the incoming chair and CEO of Coherent. Anderson's appointment comes as Chuck Mattera, the current chair and CEO, prepares to retire from his role at Coherent.

"Jim’s business acumen and technical capability, coupled with his extensive experience transforming complex global businesses to deliver above-market growth and profitability, make him the ideal leader to steer Coherent through its next chapter amidst a rapidly changing market," said Enrico DiGirolamo, chair of the board of directors, in a statement.

Prior to his upcoming role at Coherent, Anderson served as the senior vice president and general manager of Advanced Micro Devices' Computing and Graphics business group. His professional journey includes leadership positions in general management, engineering, sales, marketing, and strategy at renowned companies such as Intel, Broadcom (formerly Avago Technologies), and LSI Corporation.

Simultaneously with Anderson's transition, Lattice announced the departure of Anderson and the appointment of Esam Elashmawi, the chief marketing and strategy officer, as the interim CEO with immediate effect. The board of directors at Lattice has initiated the search for a permanent CEO, considering both internal and external candidates for the position.

Elashmawi, who joined Lattice in 2018, has been instrumental in the company's transformation over the past six years. Jeff Richardson, chair of Lattice's board of directors, expressed confidence in Elashmawi and the executive team, stating, "I am confident that Esam and our talented executive team will ensure a smooth transition for all our stakeholders."
