The highly anticipated Infrachip showroom has finally opened its doors, offering access to over 100 sets of cutting-edge equipment and technologies. This marks a significant milestone in the €15m Infrachip EU project, which is now inviting applications for transnational access. Interested parties can now apply for EU-sponsored access at no cost, providing a unique opportunity for researchers and small companies across Europe, including the UK, over the next four years.

Access to expensive equipment has long been a challenge for researchers, particularly when specific tools or equipment are required for their work. The high costs and conditions associated with accessing such technology can often hinder the progress of research. The Infrachip project, a consortium of fourteen partners led by Tyndall National Institute at University College Cork, aims to address this issue by lowering access barriers and fostering innovation and prototype fabrication.

Researchers can now explore the online showroom and collaborate with the Infrachip interface team to determine the most suitable tools and access type for their needs. This can range from remote access, where samples are sent and data is obtained, to in-person access for extended periods, all fully funded by the EU. The project not only provides access to state-of-the-art equipment but also offers training opportunities, including hands-on experience and courses, to introduce junior researchers to the available technologies.

Building on existing research communities such as ASCENT+ on Nanoelectronics, EMERGE on Sustainable Flexible Electronics, and EnABLES on Powering the Internet of Things (IoT), Infrachip is poised to make a significant impact in advancing research and addressing modern challenges. The project partners, including institutions like Hellenic Mediterranean University, Institute of Emerging Technologies, and Warsaw University of Technology, are committed to driving innovation and collaboration in the field of advanced technologies.

The Infrachip Showroom represents a major step forward in democratizing access to cutting-edge technology and fostering collaboration among researchers and industry partners. By providing free access to expensive equipment and offering training opportunities, the project is set to accelerate research and innovation in Europe and beyond. With the support of the EU and the dedication of its consortium partners, Infrachip is paving the way for a new era of technological advancement and breakthroughs.
