High-Density 12-Pin M8 Circular Connector Unveiled

Binder, a renowned connector manufacturer based in Germany, has recently introduced a cutting-edge 12-pin M8 circular connector featuring C coding. This innovative development was driven by specific customer demands for advanced length measurement systems that required the transmission of more than eight signals without compromising the compact size of the M8 connector.

The new design specification for the M8 circular connector, compliant with screw or snap-in locking DIN EN 61076-2-104, now incorporates the C-coding feature to support AC sensors and actuators. Guido Werner, the product manager at binder, highlighted the technical challenges faced during the development process, emphasizing the need to accommodate 12 pins on the compact M8 connector face through a symmetrical arrangement of contacts and the introduction of five small coding steps to ensure secure polarization and protect sensitive contacts.

This latest addition to the M8 connector series is specifically tailored for applications in industrial sensor technology, measurement and control technology, camera technology, and robotics. Its compact design offers significant advantages in terms of miniaturization, flexibility, and performance, catering to the evolving needs of modern machines and automation systems that demand space-saving and high-performance components.

Werner emphasized the importance of miniaturization in automation, noting that the M8 connector series, including the new 12-pin variant, provides a space-efficient solution with 20% less space requirement for adjacent connectors compared to larger series. This not only ensures continuous plug compatibility in the market but also opens up new possibilities for signal transmission, positioning the M8 connector as a key player in the industry's drive towards compact and efficient designs.
