Kyocera Fineceramics to Invest €34 Million in European Sites

Kyocera Fineceramics, a leading ceramics manufacturer, has announced plans to invest approximately €34 million in its two European sites located in Mannheim (Baden-Württemberg) and Selb (Bavaria) during the current 2023/24 financial year.

The company has experienced significant growth since the acquisition and merger of its two predecessor companies, H. C. Starck Ceramics GmbH in Selb and the ceramics business of Friatec GmbH in Mannheim. As a result, Kyocera Fineceramics has already hired over 200 new employees.

"After establishing our new administration and logistics centre in Mannheim earlier this year, our focus now is on expanding our production facilities," says Armin Kayser, Executive Vice President of KYOCERA. "In Selb, we will also be converting existing buildings and constructing new ones on newly acquired land."

In Mannheim, the company plans to set up new production facilities within existing buildings. Additionally, Kyocera Fineceramics aims to improve the power supply by implementing an environmentally friendly wooden structure and installing photovoltaic modules for electricity generation. Furthermore, waste heat from the sintering furnaces will be utilized for heating and cooling the entire site.

This investment demonstrates Kyocera Fineceramics' commitment to enhancing its European operations and strengthening its position as a leading ceramics manufacturer. The expansion of production facilities and the implementation of sustainable energy solutions will enable the company to meet growing demand while reducing its environmental impact.
