TDK has introduced two new AC-DC power supplies designed specifically for medical and industrial applications. These power supplies boast an impressive power density of 27.2W/cubic inch and feature an ultra-low audible noise level of just 30dB.
The latest additions to the TDK-Lambda brand, the CUS800M and CUS1000M AC-DC power supply series, come in a compact 6.73 x 3.35 x 1.67” (171 x 85 x 42.5mm) case size. With power ratings of up to 800W and 1000W, these units are equipped with a variable speed fan that ensures quiet operation, producing only 30dB of noise at 20% load and 42dBA at full load.
These versatile power supplies are suitable for a wide range of applications, including medical, dental, test and measurement, broadcast, and industrial equipment. The series supports an input voltage range of 85 to 265Vac and delivers full power even at 90Vac. Output options include 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V, with additional features such as a 5V 2A standby voltage, remote on/off, remote sense, and a power good signal.
The high conversion efficiencies of up to 95.5% not only reduce internal heating but also enable reliable operation within the compact package size. When in standby mode, the power supplies have an off-load power consumption of typically less than 0.6W. Operating within a temperature range of -20oC to +70oC, these models derate linearly from 40oC to 60% load at +70oC, ensuring optimal performance.
Furthermore, the CUS800M and CUS1000M AC-DC power supplies offer robust safety features, including an input to output isolation of 4000Vac (2 x MoPP), input to ground isolation of 2000Vac (1 x MoPP), and output to ground isolation of 1500Vac (1 x MoPP) for B and BF rated medical equipment. With a leakage current of less than 250µA and a maximum operating altitude of 5000m, these power supplies meet stringent safety standards.
