Galvion, a leading provider of soldier systems, has collaborated with Quaze Technologies in Canada to pioneer a cutting-edge concept system for wireless charging on the battlefield.

The innovative BATLCHRG concept, developed by Galvion, features a charging mat and receiver configuration that boasts exceptional power transfer rates and efficiency. This system offers a broad position tolerance to accommodate movement and surface misalignment, ensuring functionality even in the most challenging environments. It has been proven to operate efficiently even when exposed to water, snow, dirt, or dust.

One of the key highlights of the BATLCHRG concept is its seamless integration with Galvion's power and data systems, which include the 2-Port Power & Data Hub (PDH-2), Personal Worn Scavenger (PWS), and SoloPack battery.

This groundbreaking development follows Galvion's strategic investment partnership with Quaze Technologies, solidifying their commitment to advancing military technology and enhancing soldier capabilities on the battlefield.

The wireless charging capability of BATLCHRG is currently being showcased in two distinct battlefield scenarios: integrated into a vehicle seat and a wall-mounted mat in a ready-room setting. These demonstrations illustrate how soldiers can conveniently charge multiple battery-powered systems through the wireless power transfer system, enhancing operational efficiency and readiness.

The wireless charging concept is designed to significantly alleviate the logistical challenges associated with battlefield power management. It enables soldier power systems to automatically and wirelessly charge when in static positions, such as during vehicle travel, sentry duty, command post operations, or rest periods.

This cutting-edge technology leverages Quaze's Surface Power Technology, which utilizes magnetic resonance to charge multiple devices with varying power requirements across a wide platform surface area, ensuring seamless and efficient power distribution.

"As experts in the soldier systems field, we are constantly seeking ways to lighten the load for our warfighters," stated Todd Stirtzinger, CEO of Galvion. "Our recent demonstration of the Charge on the Move capability in October 2023 showcased our Squad Power Manager in a vehicle-mounted configuration, tapping into vehicle power systems to support dismounted soldiers. Our collaboration with Quaze and the resulting BATLCHRG capability represents a visionary approach to wireless charging that will redefine power provision and management for the future."

Established in 2002 as Revision Military, Galvion is headquartered in New Hampshire and operates manufacturing facilities in Vermont, Massachusetts, Montreal, and Bristol, with plans for an assembly plant in Gdansk, Poland later this year.
