SECO, a leading technology company based in Italy, has been granted early access to MediaTek’s Genio family of AI System-on-Chips (SoCs) devices for two IoT System-on-Modules (SoM). The Seco SOM-SMARC-Genio700 and SOM-SMARC-Genio510 provide developers with the opportunity to swiftly integrate the latest SoCs from MediaTek using the SMARC standard.
The MediaTek Genio series encompasses AI-capable chipsets tailored for a diverse array of IoT devices, ranging from smart home appliances and industrial automation to connected healthcare. The Genio 700 features two ARM Cortex-A78 cores and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores, along with a Tensilica VP6 and a MediaTek APU3.0 AI processors, delivering up to 4 TOPS. Additionally, the integrated Mali-G57 MC3 GPU supports high-quality graphics and multiple display outputs through LVDS, eDP, HDMI, and DP interfaces.
On the other hand, the Genio 510 SoC is equipped with two ARM Cortex-A78 cores and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores, featuring an embedded AI engine capable of delivering up to 2.8 TOPs. The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU supports 4K60 + FHD60 displays. Pin-to-pin compatibility with the Genio700 processor allows for seamless performance upgrades without the need for redesign, accommodating increased workloads as necessary.
The SOM-SMARC-Genio700 and SOM-SMARC-Genio510 from SECO integrate these powerful processors into compact, SMARC 2.1.1 standard modules designed for low-power industrial IoT applications that demand advanced connectivity, real-time processing, AI capabilities, and reduced power consumption. The Genio700 SMARC boasts up to 8 GB of soldered-down LPDDR4X-3733 DRAM memory.
SECO recently inaugurated a significant factory in China to further bolster its production capabilities and meet the growing demand for innovative IoT solutions. MediaTek’s dynamic resource allocation technology ensures optimal power efficiency during the execution of AI-driven applications and multimedia tasks. The dedicated AI processing units enable the execution of complex AI functions, while the robust graphic capabilities facilitate high-resolution, smooth visual displays. Support for the latest wireless standards, including Wi-Fi/BT options, ensures reliable and fast connectivity for IoT devices.
“SECO is excited to collaborate with MediaTek to introduce cutting-edge innovations to the industrial IoT sector. Our SOM-SMARC-Genio700 and SOM-SMARC-Genio510 modules harness the advanced features of MediaTek’s Genio series to deliver unmatched performance, efficiency, and connectivity. This partnership underscores SECO’s dedication to providing robust, low-power solutions that cater to the evolving requirements of our clients across various industries,” stated Maurizio Caporali, Chief Product Officer at SECO.
“By leveraging the AI-enabled MediaTek Genio 700 and Genio 510 chipsets, we are working closely with SECO on a wide range of embedded solutions,” said CK Wang, General Manager of the IoT business unit at MediaTek. “Through a blend of performance, power efficiency, and premium connectivity, our MediaTek Genio chips are assisting customers in developing products that can enhance the Industrial IoT landscape.”
Both the SOM-SMARC-Genio700 and SOM-SMARC-Genio510 modules offer diverse configurations to withstand varying environmental conditions and cater to heterogeneous needs, from mobile-connected applications to demanding industrial settings. They are also primed for integration with Clea and SECO’s software suite, enhancing the hardware infrastructure with a range of value-added services encompassing device management, remote updates, and data pipeline management, all while upholding top-tier security standards.
