This year’s National Apprenticeship Week in the UK runs from 5 to 11 February. The initiative targets all industries and sectors, but for the electronics industry, there is a particular need for programmes that equip apprentices with STEM skills.
Among the companies and organisations taking part, there is the STEM Hub, which will be hosting live career talks by STEM ambassadors from the National Physical Laboratory, rail and air.
The schedule includes an ambassador from NPL, Gatwick Airport, Network Rail, the NHS and Kier Construction. Places can be booked via the website where there is also a library of pre-recorded videos of apprenticeship talks at the STEM InSIGHT section of the website.
There will be events all week across the UK, connecting businesses and apprentices, including those held at Keele, Milton Keynes, Leicester and Nottingham Trent Universities. There is a ‘toolkit’ to plan and host events available from National Apprentice Week.
The electronics industry is one of the sectors that heavily relies on apprenticeships to develop a skilled workforce. With the increasing demand for STEM skills, the need for apprenticeship programmes in this field has become even more crucial. National Apprenticeship Week, which takes place from 5 to 11 February in the UK, aims to address this need and promote apprenticeships across all industries.
One of the key participants in this initiative is the STEM Hub, which will be hosting live career talks by STEM ambassadors from various renowned organizations. These ambassadors, representing the National Physical Laboratory, Gatwick Airport, Network Rail, the NHS, and Kier Construction, will share their experiences and insights with aspiring apprentices. Interested individuals can book their place for these talks through the official website, which also offers a library of pre-recorded videos of previous apprenticeship talks.
The week-long event will witness numerous events taking place across the UK, connecting businesses and apprentices. Universities such as Keele, Milton Keynes, Leicester, and Nottingham Trent will also be hosting events as part of National Apprenticeship Week. To assist in planning and hosting these events, a comprehensive 'toolkit' is available from the National Apprenticeship Week website.
