TekHSI introduces a groundbreaking firmware capability on the Tektronix MSO 4B, 5, and 6 Series models, including B and LP renditions. This innovative technology offers abstractions that facilitate achieving higher data transfer speeds while maintaining ease of use and scalability. By leveraging TekHSI, Tektronix customers can harness the full potential of their test instruments' physical links, such as ethernet, to transfer data at significantly increased speeds.

In the realm of test and measurement, existing options often necessitate meticulous code optimization to attain high data transfer rates. Engineers typically rely on standard commands for programmable instruments (SCPI) like curve and curvestream to move data from the instrument to a computer. However, these methods can pose challenges in maximizing the bandwidth of the instrument's native physical link, usually a 1 Gbps ethernet connection. TekHSI emerges as a game-changer by offering a viable alternative for achieving enhanced data transfer speeds. The intuitive abstractions within TekHSI streamline implementation, usage, and scalability.

Gaurav Marmat, Tektronix Product Manager, highlighted the significance of TekHSI in addressing previous workflow bottlenecks faced by engineers. He stated, “Before the advent of TekHSI, our customers were constrained to using SCPI curve and curvestream commands for data transfer, leading to inefficiencies when handling large record length and sample rate waveform files. TekHSI, built on Google’s modern remote procedure call architecture, provides a user-friendly solution that seamlessly integrates into test automation workflows, delivering faster and more efficient data transfer outcomes. It represents a departure from the complexities and sluggishness of traditional data transfer methods.”

Tektronix has made TekHSI accessible through a Python library tailored for automation projects. Additionally, users can leverage the TekScope PC version 2.10 for interface-based applications. This dual offering underscores Tektronix's commitment to empowering customers with versatile tools that cater to diverse automation and user interface requirements. With TekHSI, the possibilities for enhancing data transfer speeds in test instruments are now within reach, promising a new era of efficiency and performance in the field of test and measurement.
