True Anomaly, a Denver-based space security startup, has secured $100 million in Series B funding. The investment round was led by Riot Ventures and included participation from Eclipse, ACME Capital, Menlo Ventures, Narya, 645 Ventures, Rocketship.vc, Champion Hill Ventures, and FiveNine Ventures.
The company specializes in developing hardware and software systems for space domain awareness. With this new funding, True Anomaly plans to invest in its team, products, and services to further advance its mission.
"A responsive and agile defense industrial base is essential to provide the tools for deterrence and global security," said Evan Rogers, CEO and Co-Founder of True Anomaly.
Rogers emphasized the importance of space as a vulnerable theater of global competition. He stated that True Anomaly aims to build technologies that create a more secure, stable, sustainable, and transparent space environment. The Series B funding will enable the company to maintain focus on its mission, deliver exceptional products, and continue investing in the nation's strategic offset.
True Anomaly was established in early 2022 and has recently completed the construction, assembly, and integration of its first two Jackal autonomous orbital vehicles (AOVs). These AOVs are scheduled to launch aboard SpaceX's Transporter-10 mission in 2024.
This latest funding round highlights the growing interest and support for space security startups. Open Cosmos, another space startup, recently raised $50 million in funding, further demonstrating the increasing importance of space-related technologies and services.
