Williams, a renowned name in Formula One racing, is expanding its horizons by launching a new venture called Williams Grand Prix Technologies. This new company house aims to leverage the cutting-edge innovation and development technologies that have been honed through years of experience in Formula One to tackle engineering challenges across various sectors.

Located at the team's technology campus in Grove, UK, Williams Grand Prix Technologies will operate alongside Williams Racing, both of which are owned by Dorilton Capital. The company is set to explore opportunities in wider motorsport, premium automotive, aerospace, defense, marine, energy, sport, and lifestyle industries.

Formula 1 is known for its fast-paced development cycles, where cars are taken from concept to competition in less than 12 months. With a rich history that includes nine Constructors' Championships, seven Drivers' Championships, and 114 race wins, Williams Racing brings a wealth of engineering experience to the table.

Clients of Williams Grand Prix Technologies will have access to a range of resources, skillsets, and technologies derived from the Formula One supply chain. These include simulation intelligence, data engineering, platform dynamics, advanced materials, simulation and modeling, instrument and data analytics, and high-performance computing.

Complementing the core engineering services are in-house prototype testing and evaluation resources such as wind tunnels, driver-in-the-loop simulators, testing machines, and various rigs. Originally developed for the race team, these capabilities have broader applications that the new company aims to harness for the benefit of its clients.

Prior to the establishment of Williams Grand Prix Technologies in 2024, the Williams brand had already ventured into other business interests beyond F1 racing. The company previously held a majority stake in Williams Hybrid Power Limited and established Williams Advanced Engineering. Subsequently, Williams Hybrid Power was acquired by GKN in March 2014, while Williams Advanced Engineering was sold to Fortescue in February 2022.

Matthew Savage, Chairman at Williams Grand Prix Engineering, expressed enthusiasm about the launch of Williams Grand Prix Technologies, highlighting the unique mix of engineering experience, expertise, and capabilities that the company offers. Even before its official launch, the new venture has garnered significant interest from a diverse range of clients.

"Drawing on skills and assets refined over five decades of competing at the highest level of motor racing globally, Williams Grand Prix Technologies stands out with a pedigree that is truly unique. As part of the Dorilton group of companies, we are well-positioned to provide enhanced technologies and services to our customers," Savage stated.
