Faraday Technology, a prominent player in the semiconductor industry based in Taiwan, has recently announced its foray into the automotive sector by incorporating the latest ARM Cortex-A720AE IP for AI-enabled vehicle ASICs. This strategic move marks Faraday's initial venture into automotive applications, signaling its commitment to innovation and diversification within the field.

Having been a valued ARM licensee since 2002, Faraday has established itself as a key partner in the ARM Total Design ecosystem. The company boasts a comprehensive IP portfolio and possesses extensive expertise in IP integration, facilitating the seamless assimilation of third-party IPs for System-on-Chip (SoC) design. This capability enables Faraday to deliver cutting-edge solutions tailored to meet the evolving demands of the automotive market.

In addition to its collaboration with ARM, Faraday offers robust design implementation services across major foundries, encompassing a wide range of processes from mature nodes to advanced FinFET process nodes. This comprehensive approach underscores Faraday's commitment to providing high-quality solutions that cater to diverse technological requirements and market segments.

Flash Lin, the Chief Operating Officer of Faraday, expressed enthusiasm about the company's entry into the Arm automotive ecosystem. Lin highlighted Faraday's certification for ISO26262 and its track record of delivering automotive chips with ultra-low Defective Parts Per Million (DPPM) in mass production. By leveraging Arm's AE technology, particularly the Cortex-A720AE, Faraday aims to address the stringent demands of next-generation automotive Integrated Circuits (ICs) in advanced nodes, thereby meeting the specific needs of its clientele.

Dipti Vachani, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive Line of Business at Arm, emphasized the importance of balancing compute performance, safety, and efficiency in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. Vachani commended Faraday for its commitment to innovation and its adoption of the Cortex-A720AE, the first high-performance Armv9 A-class CPU designed specifically for automotive applications.
