Infineon Technologies has taken a significant step in bolstering the security features of its Aurix TC4x Cybersecurity Real-time Module (CSRM) by incorporating technology from ETAS. The integration of the ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x Automotive Security Software Stack into the CSRM is aimed at providing enhanced security solutions to customers of Bosch and other ETAS OEM and Tier One partners. ETAS GmbH, established in 1994, operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Bosch, a renowned name in the automotive industry.

The Aurix TC4x family, known for its compliance with the latest ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard, now boasts a robust security framework that eliminates performance bottlenecks and supports post-quantum cryptography. Within this family, the Cybersecurity Real-time Module (CSRM) features dedicated memory, while the Cybersecurity Satellite (CSS) offers accelerators for cryptographic services that can operate concurrently, significantly enhancing throughput in conjunction with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x.

Moreover, the support for virtualization allows for the configuration of multiple virtual instances, enabling the simultaneous operation of various applications. ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x leverages this capability to facilitate flexible boot-up sequences and independent dynamic updates for each virtual instance. Granular access control configurations and the assignment of individual ASIL levels to each virtual instance further enhance security applications.

Green Hills, a leading provider of real-time operating systems (RTOS), has successfully ported its RTOS to Infineon Aurix TC4x chips. Thomas Schneid, Senior Director of Software, Partnership, and Ecosystem Management at Infineon Technologies, emphasized the deep integration of partners' software solutions within the AURIX offering. The collaboration with ETAS is set to advance the development of software-defined vehicles, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation.

Rohan Pandit, Product Manager Onboard Security at ETAS, expressed enthusiasm about the extended partnership with Infineon, highlighting the integration of ESCRYPT CycurHSM with the AURIX microcontroller family. This integration is expected to empower software-defined vehicles to meet evolving performance demands while ensuring robust security measures. The initial device in the new Infineon TC4X series is already equipped with ESCRYPT CycurHSM 3.x, paving the way for seamless integration across other derivatives of the TC4X family based on market needs and product availability.
