Q-Pixel has made waves in the tech world by showcasing an active-matrix color display with an impressive 6800 pixels per inch (PPI), claiming the title of the world's highest resolution display. This breakthrough has been achieved through the innovative use of microLED pixels, a technology that has long been considered challenging to implement.

Unlike many advanced VR displays that rely on micro-organic LEDs (micro-OLEDs), Q-Pixel's displays are unique in that they are composed entirely of III-V compound microLED pixels. This choice offers several advantages, including faster response times, higher brightness levels, longer lifespans, and improved energy efficiency.

One of the primary obstacles in commercializing microLED displays has been the traditional method of assembling full-color pixels using individual monochromatic red, green, and blue (RGB) LEDs. This approach becomes particularly complex and costly when dealing with high-resolution displays that require small pixels, such as those used in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) applications.

Q-Pixel has managed to overcome these challenges by replacing the traditional RGB subpixels with individual, fully color-tunable pixels. This not only simplifies the manufacturing process but also eliminates the need for millions of RGB subpixels, thereby increasing pixel density and paving the way for high-resolution displays.
