Built on Vishay's Astral surface emitter chip technology, the latest IR emitters are making waves in the automotive industry. These cutting-edge emitters are designed to handle high drive currents of up to 1.5 A DC and 5 A pulsed, setting a new standard for performance and efficiency.

Featuring a double-stack chip, the IR emitters released today boast a high typical radiant intensity of up to 6000 mW/sr at a 5 A pulse current and 2000 mW/sr at a 1.5 A DC current. This represents a significant 10% increase compared to the closest competing device. The enhanced illumination provided by these emitters not only improves contrast but also reduces the number of components needed, resulting in cost savings and space optimization.

These IR emitters are particularly well-suited for a range of applications including ADAS, driver and cabin monitoring systems, eye tracking, and CCTV. The 940 nm devices are engineered to eliminate the red glow effect, while the 850 nm emitters are tailored for optimal compatibility with cameras. Additionally, to cater to diverse fields of view in different scenarios, the emitters are available with four angles of half intensity: ± 28°, ± 40°, ± 60°, and ± 75°.

Operating efficiently across a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +125 °C, the IR emitters offer low thermal resistance ranging from 5 K/W to 9 K/W. This feature ensures effective thermal management and facilitates the use of high drive currents. Furthermore, these devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, supporting lead (Pb)-free reflow soldering. They also provide high ESD immunity up to 5 kV, a floor life of 168 hours, and a moisture sensitivity level of 3.

In conclusion, the new IR emitters from Vishay represent a significant advancement in automotive lighting technology. With their superior performance, compact design, and wide range of applications, these emitters are set to revolutionize the way we approach automotive lighting solutions.
