Recent research presented at Cisco Live highlights the benefits of a formal observability approach in improving network performance and security. The study, which involved 754 respondents from 10 countries, revealed that this approach not only reduces incident detection times but also leads to enhanced security (83%), faster product/service advancements (82%), and improved compliance (78%).

Network observability plays a crucial role in providing deep insights into network behavior, performance, and health. By collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in real time, administrators can better understand and manage their networks. Unlike traditional monitoring methods, observability allows IT teams to proactively detect, understand, and resolve incidents as they occur, leading to improved network performance, faster problem resolution, and higher user satisfaction.

The report also emphasizes the importance of Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) in today's cybersecurity landscape. With 88% of organizations recognizing the need to enhance their threat management capabilities, CTEM offers a systematic approach to evaluating and prioritizing risks. By integrating threat exposure management with attack surface management, organizations can strengthen their security posture and operational resilience against evolving threats.

"Organizations are increasingly realizing the transformative impact of observability on network management and security," stated Chris Labac, Vice President and General Manager at VIAVI. "Network observability is not just about enhancing security and compliance; it has become a key driver of business success."

Jim Frey, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, echoed this sentiment, noting that the state of the network is crucial for business success amidst evolving challenges. Organizations leveraging network observability are experiencing significant improvements in managing complex hybrid network architectures and enhancing security measures. This strategic shift towards observability enables new strategies like continuous threat exposure management, further strengthening organizations' cybersecurity defenses.
