The GRF5112 pre-driver power amplifier is making waves in the industry with its broad, single-tuned responses that allow multicarrier base stations to transmit across multiple cellular bands simultaneously using a single RF lineup. This innovative technology is a testament to Guerrilla RF's commitment to enhancing its driver amplifier offerings.

Jim Ahne, the vice president of marketing at Guerrilla RF, expressed his excitement about the GRF5112 power amplifier, stating, "Building upon the GRF5115 core, this latest iteration streamlines tuning while ensuring consistent performance across process and temperature variations. Our design team has integrated additional tuning handles within the core to optimize linearity for specific bands and bias conditions."

The GRF5112 power amplifier is versatile, capable of being tuned to operate over select bands within the 30 to 2700 MHz frequency range. At 1.8 GHz, the device delivers impressive specifications including 17.1 dB of gain, 32.2 dBm of OP1dB compression, 40 dBm of OIP3 linearity, and a low noise figure of 1.7 dB (measured on the device’s standard evaluation board).

One of the key features of the GRF5112 is its flexible biasing architecture, allowing for customizable trade-offs between linearity and power consumption. With supply voltages ranging from 1.8 to 5.25 V, most customers opt for a standard 5V supply with 212 mA of biasing current.

Encased in a compact 3- x 3-mm QFN-16 package, the GRF5112 pre-driver shares a pinout and matching layout with many of Guerrilla RF's linear drivers and power amplifier cores. Samples and evaluation boards are readily available for those interested in experiencing the capabilities of this cutting-edge technology.
