A groundbreaking prototype for an early 6G network has been unveiled, showcasing the innovative collaboration between Ericsson and Keysight Technologies. This pioneering project utilizes Ericsson's pre-standard protocol stack, specifically designed for new spectrum bands, in conjunction with a test system from Keysight. The successful demonstration establishes a crucial link between an Ericsson basestation testbed and emulated user equipment from Keysight, marking a significant milestone in the development of 6G technology.
The primary objective of this demonstration is to evaluate the feasibility of utilizing new frequency ranges for 6G wireless communication systems. By harnessing these untapped spectrum resources, the network aims to maximize bandwidth and optimize available spectrum for enhanced connectivity. However, the transition to higher spectrum bands presents a unique set of challenges, particularly in overcoming obstacles related to radio frequency (RF) propagation within these bands.
