The expansion of LEM's research and development capabilities continues with the establishment of two new sites in China and Germany. These new facilities will not only enhance the intelligence of LEM's sensors but also bring development bases closer to key customers, fostering deeper collaboration and efficient sharing of product design information. The China site will be equipped with cutting-edge laboratory equipment, while the German site will focus on ASIC design and semiconductor technology to drive innovation in integrated current sensors (ICSs).

This recent investment in additional R&D facilities in Europe and Asia builds upon LEM's recent inauguration of a state-of-the-art factory in Malaysia. The Penang factory, with its advanced manufacturing technology, underscores LEM's recognition of the region's expertise in ASIC technology and semiconductor design. By diversifying its global footprint, LEM aims to enhance operations and better serve customers through advanced production facilities and skilled personnel.

Complementing the existing sites in Lyon, France, and Sofia, Bulgaria, the new Munich semiconductor facility, led by Matthias Tänzer, will collaborate closely with LEM's ICS team in Geneva, Switzerland. The Munich team is set to grow in alignment with LEM's ambitious expansion plans, with 10 employees already on board. Meanwhile, the Shanghai facility, spanning 1400m2, currently houses 30 staff members, with plans to double this number in the future, focusing primarily on R&D.

Verena Vescoli, LEM's Chief Technology Officer, emphasizes the importance of integrated current sensing for the company's future growth and competitive edge. The Munich R&D center will accelerate IC design and broaden the ICS portfolio, facilitating collaboration among teams to leverage their expertise and application know-how. Vescoli expresses excitement about the growth potential offered by the new Munich and Shanghai sites.

John McLuskie, LEM's Senior Vice President for Asia, highlights the strategic significance of investing in R&D to deliver value-added solutions to customers. With China being a hub of technology and innovation, the new R&D facility in Shanghai will complement the existing Beijing site, enabling closer proximity to customers and faster delivery of solutions. The commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions underscores LEM's dedication to staying competitive in the market.
