High-performance networks have received a significant boost through a technology partnership that has led to the creation of the XipLink Application Classification Engine (XipACE). This innovative engine integrates ipoque’s cutting-edge DPI technology, R&S®PACE 2, into the XipLink operating system (XipOS), providing advanced application visibility for multi-orbit networking.
Leveraging standards-based SCPS protocol acceleration, link bonding, Layer 2 switching, and Layer 3 routing, XipLink offers intelligent multi-orbit networking solutions that ensure network performance and Quality of Service (QoS) across satellite, cellular, and wireless networks. By embedding next-gen DPI software from ipoque, XipLink now has traffic visibility up to Layer 7 and beyond, enhancing the traffic aggregation and optimization algorithms used by the platform.
Dr. Martin Mieth, VP Engineering at ipoque, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Instantaneous identification of protocols and applications enables intelligent and contextual routing policies aligned with the criticality of applications and network conditions.” Prior to R&S®PACE 2, XipLink's classification engine supported visibility only up to Layer 4.
R&S®PACE 2 employs behavioral, statistical, and heuristic analysis along with metadata extraction to accurately identify protocols, applications, and attributes in real time. Dr. Mieth emphasized, “Our breakthrough AI-based encrypted traffic intelligence, including machine learning and deep learning techniques, brings traffic awareness to the next level by identifying any type of IP traffic, despite encryption or anonymization.”
Jack Waters, CEO of XipLink, expressed the company's commitment to delivering top-tier solutions to customers requiring enterprise-grade quality and efficiency. Waters stated, “Application-aware networking is crucial for optimizing network resources and meeting escalating demands while ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).”
By leveraging the high throughput and efficient software form-factor of R&S®PACE 2, XipACE enhances core functions such as QoS management, traffic analytics, steering decisions, load balancing, and dynamic link bonding. The selection of ipoque’s R&S®PACE 2 is also driven by its extensive feature set, including first packet classification and customizability of app signatures. Jaco Botha, SVP Product at XipLink, praised ipoque for providing proven technology tested in challenging network environments.
Insights from R&S®PACE 2 enable XipOS to support network diversity and resilience, from offloading traffic to tapping into GEO satellites for latency reduction. The partnership strengthens XipLink's position as an efficient link aggregation and optimization solution, particularly in networks with constrained wireless links like LEO services. The collaboration promises to enhance XipLink’s multi-orbit networking portfolio, benefiting customers across various sectors including mobile, satellite, maritime, government, defense, and modem industries.
