A groundbreaking digital sensor umbrella has been introduced in the Alps to monitor various movements and ensure the safety of the region. With the increasing challenges posed by climate change, it has become crucial to keep track of environmental changes. Developed by GMD gmbh, this innovative technology functions as a digital safety net equipped with sensors that can monitor the movement of streams, rocks, and even walking tracks. The system is powered by the Infineon PSoC 6 technology, with data collection and analysis supported by Deepcraft.

The collaboration began as part of the Infineon Startup Challenge 2024, and the system is already being utilized in pilot projects.
The sensor system operates using solar electricity, making it suitable for deployment in remote areas. Given the increasingly unpredictable weather patterns resulting from climate change, the startup company aims to expand this network across the entire Alps. Initial tests conducted in the Kufstein region have shown promising results.
