UK/US quantum computer company Quantinuum has announced that it will be supplying its Helios next-generation quantum computer to Singapore and establishing an R&D center in the city-state. This move comes as part of a strategic collaboration between Quantinuum and various Singaporean research institutions to advance quantum computing technologies.

The National Quantum Office (NQO) of Singapore, along with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), National University of Singapore (NUS), and the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Quantinuum. This MoU grants these institutions access to the latest Quantinuum quantum computer systems, including the H-Series and Helios quantum computers.

As part of the collaboration, A*STAR, the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at NUS, and the NSCC will engage in joint research and development activities focused on various quantum computing applications. They are also working on developing a hybrid computing system that combines classical and quantum infrastructures to create long-term strategic roadmaps for quantum technology.

Quantinuum is not only providing access to its cutting-edge quantum computing platforms but also plans to establish a dedicated R&D presence in Singapore. This will facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration between researchers from Quantinuum and Singapore, driving further advancements in quantum applications and algorithms.

The collaboration is aligned with Singapore's National Quantum Strategy, which aims to position the city-state as a leading hub for quantum technologies. By leveraging Quantinuum's expertise and state-of-the-art quantum computers, Singapore aims to strengthen its engineering capabilities and drive innovation across industries through quantum computing.
