The automotive industry is witnessing a groundbreaking development as the SoundHound Chat AI voice assistant, integrated with ChatGPT, goes live in Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall vehicles across 11 European markets. These markets include Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, with plans to expand further by the end of July to 17 markets in 12 different languages.

Stellantis DS Automobiles made history back in March by becoming the first automaker to fully integrate the latest generative AI technology into its voice assistant through the SoundHound Chat AI software. Initially launched with DS vehicles in 18 countries and 13 languages, this innovative technology is now being extended to other brands within the Stellantis group, promising a revolution in the in-car experience.

According to data from SoundHound, the adoption of this advanced voice assistant technology has seen a significant increase in usage, with DS Automobiles reporting a 50% rise in interaction frequency. Additionally, there has been a notable decrease in unfulfilled requests and a significant increase in the Net Promoter Score based on consumer loyalty, indicating a growing demand for AI-powered voice assistants among both drivers and manufacturers.

Starting from July 2024, vehicles from Peugeot, Opel, and Vauxhall will come equipped with this cutting-edge technology. For older models, the SoundHound Chat AI with ChatGPT integration can be accessed on-demand and delivered over-the-air, eliminating the need for a visit to the dealer.

SoundHound Chat AI enables hands-free control over various functions such as navigation, making calls, and accessing real-time information like sports scores and weather updates. The incorporation of ChatGPT into the voice recognition system allows users to ask a wide range of questions, from historical facts to creating stories for children, enhancing the overall driving experience.

Michael Zagorsek, COO of SoundHound AI, expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Stellantis, stating, “Our partnership has propelled both companies to the forefront of innovation in the automotive sector, ushering in a new era of driver experience. SoundHound is dedicated to providing voice AI technology that meets the evolving demands of consumers, offering a next-generation experience centered around natural conversation.”
