Blueshift Memory Ltd., based in Cambridge, England, a renowned licensor of memory architecture and cores, has initiated a significant development project in collaboration with Taiwanese companies AP Memory and Syntonix. The project, valued at £2.77 million, aims to integrate Blueshift's intellectual property (IP) into AP Memory's high bandwidth memory (HBM) chips with support from Syntronix.

Supported by an award of £1.2 million from Innovate UK, the project marks a strategic partnership between the three companies. The joint-collaboration agreement was officially signed at the end of 2024, paving the way for the project's commencement on 1 January 2025.

The development project, scheduled to run for 30 months, is focused on enhancing AP Memory's very high bandwidth memory (VHM) for potential applications in artificial intelligence (AI). "Integrating the Blueshift Memory technology into our VHM product promises to further enhance its bandwidth and reduce energy consumption, thus increasing our chip’s competitive edge," stated Wen Chen, the Chief Technology Officer at AP Memory, in a press release issued by Blueshift.

Blueshift Memory's CEO, Helen Duncan, expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, "Having already validated the performance of our architecture in FPGA, this collaboration will enable us to showcase its potential in silicon by 2026, advancing our roadmap by at least two years."

The project signifies a significant step forward in the development of cutting-edge memory technologies, with the potential to revolutionize the landscape of AI applications and high-performance computing. With the combined expertise of Blueshift Memory, AP Memory, and Syntonix, the project is poised to drive innovation and competitiveness in the semiconductor industry.
