Versinetic, a company based in the UK, has recently introduced a new modular and flexible software stack tailored for electric vehicle (EV) charging station manufacturers and operators. The project, named EVerest, was developed in Birmingham as part of the Linux Foundation Energy initiative. The primary goal of EVerest is to drive innovation in EV charging infrastructure, while also promoting interoperability and standardization within the industry.

While EVerest offers a robust feature set, a strong development community, and open-source flexibility, building the complete charger platform can be a complex and costly process. Recognizing this challenge, Versinetic has now integrated EVerest into its standard Charging Blox framework. This move allows for the seamless incorporation of a Charge Controller to enhance charger intelligence, or the addition of a Smart interface alongside Charge Controller hardware, or even the development of a fully customized charging solution from scratch.

The EVerest framework is designed with a modular architecture that facilitates the easy interchange of modules and the addition of new functionalities. This open-source approach not only supports local energy management use cases but also encourages a community of developers to contribute to the code base. The flexibility of the design empowers charging station manufacturers to tailor and expand the software according to their specific requirements.

Graeme Wintle, the Director of Versinetic, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch of EVerest for EV Charging, emphasizing its role in providing innovative solutions for EV charging needs. By combining the open-source EVerest platform with the Charging Blox framework, Versinetic aims to expedite market entry with reliable and high-performance chargers, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future.

Customization options for EVerest include features such as remote diagnostics, custom load balancers, and integration with Home Management Systems, as well as additional hardware like payment terminals, site meters, and RFID technology. This comprehensive approach underscores Versinetic's commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions for the evolving EV industry.
