Greenerwave, a company based in France, is making significant strides in the field of telecommunications by commercializing its innovative reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) tailored for public and public-private research laboratories focusing on 6G applications.

With offerings in FR1, FR2, and FR3 bands, Greenerwave is equipping researchers with a powerful tool to propel 6G research forward and explore new use cases in the realm of telecommunications.

The low-energy reconfigurable intelligent surfaces provided by Greenerwave have the potential to enhance connectivity for Industry 4.0, large-scale event networks, as well as low-power B5G and 6G technologies.

These passive repeaters are designed to direct wave beams towards connected devices, facilitating real-time adaptation of local networks. This technology is viewed as a crucial advancement for 5G+/6G networks, promising improved network coverage while significantly reducing energy consumption.

Greenerwave has allocated €15 million towards the development of the next generation of RIS reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, underscoring their commitment to driving innovation in the telecommunications sector.

The RIS metasurfaces consist of elements that manipulate electromagnetic waves, enabling the generation and control of directional beams. These metasurfaces are composed of centimetric-sized elements known as pixels, which function as micromirrors capable of altering the reflected wave's properties.

Algorithms rooted in physics govern the interactions between pixels and microwaves, guiding waves post-reflection on the surface. This passive, cost-effective technology aims to optimize the utilization of electromagnetic waves while substantially reducing antenna energy consumption and production costs.

Greenerwave's introduction of RIS 2.0 to the research community shortly after its official debut is aimed at fostering the growth of knowledge and expertise that will shape the future landscape of telecommunications, IoT, and network infrastructure.

Capable of operating across all frequency bands, including FR3, these intelligent surfaces, with their real-time wave propagation reconfiguration capabilities, are ideal for institutions looking to delve deeper into wireless technology research and innovate new use cases.
