Secure key provisioning is crucial for safeguarding sensitive keys against potential third-party tampering and malicious attacks. Whether it's for consumer electronics, industrial machinery, data centers, or medical devices, secure key storage plays a vital role in ensuring secure authentication. However, the process of developing and documenting secure key provisioning methods can often be intricate and costly.

ECC20x and SHA10x ICs offer a hardware-based solution for secure key storage, designed to keep secret keys hidden from unauthorized access and attacks. These ICs, part of the TrustFLEX platform, come preconfigured with defined use cases, customizable cryptographic keys, and code examples to simplify the development process.

According to Nuri Dagdeviren, corporate vice president of Microchip’s secure computing group, "Adding the ECC20x and SHA10x pre-configured devices to our TrustFLEX platform will facilitate leveraging Microchip’s secure provisioning services for a broader set of applications." This platform expansion aims to make security authentication ICs more accessible and optimized for high-volume, cost-sensitive applications.

ECC20x and SHA10x devices meet the stringent security requirements of the Common Criteria Joint Interpretation Library (JIL) High rating for secure key storage. Additionally, they have received certifications from the NIST Entropy Source Validation (ESV) and Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP) in compliance with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS). These secure IC families are specifically designed to ensure trusted authentication, maintaining data confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity across various systems and applications.

Supported by Microchip’s Trust Platform Design Suite, ECC20x and SHA10x ICs provide code examples, learning materials, and enable secure credential transfer to facilitate the utilization of Microchip’s secure key provisioning services. Furthermore, these devices are backed by the MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), product-specific evaluation boards, and CryptoAuthLib library support, offering a comprehensive ecosystem for secure key management.
