The latest investment by Oracle is set to significantly grow Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) presence across Japan. This expansion aims to assist customers and partners in meeting Japan's digital sovereignty requirements. To achieve this goal, Oracle will be expanding its operations and support engineering teams with Japan-based personnel, focusing on driving AI and cloud services.

"By expanding our cloud footprint and establishing a dedicated team to support sovereign operations in Japan, we are empowering our customers and partners to innovate with AI and other cloud services while ensuring compliance with regulatory and sovereignty standards," stated Toshimitsu Misawa, a member of the board and corporate executive officer at Oracle Corporation Japan.

As part of its strategic plan, Oracle intends to enhance local customer support for its public cloud regions in Tokyo and Osaka. The company will also bolster its local operations teams for Oracle Alloy and OCI Dedicated Region. These efforts are designed to facilitate the seamless migration of mission-critical workloads to the Oracle Cloud, enabling Japanese governments and businesses to leverage sovereign AI solutions securely within the country's borders or on-premises.

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure lineup offers a range of solutions to cater to diverse needs:

  • Dedicated Cloud: Customers can leverage OCI Dedicated Region to run all OCI cloud services within their own data centers. Partners, on the other hand, can resell OCI cloud services and customize the experience through Oracle Alloy. Oracle also provides separate Government Clouds in the U.S., UK, and Australia, along with Isolated Cloud Regions for U.S. national security purposes, offering a comprehensive cloud and AI stack for Sovereign Cloud deployment.
  • Hybrid Cloud: OCI enables the delivery of essential cloud services on-premises via Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer and Compute Cloud@Customer, with deployments managed in over 60 countries.
  • Public Cloud: With forty-nine hyperscale public cloud regions, Oracle caters to organizations of all sizes, including those with stringent EU sovereignty requirements.
  • Multicloud: Oracle provides various options such as Oracle Database@Azure, MySQL HeatWave on AWS, and Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure, allowing customers to integrate key capabilities from different cloud providers.

Oracle's commitment to expanding its cloud operations in Japan underscores its dedication to providing cutting-edge cloud and AI services while ensuring compliance with local regulations and sovereignty standards. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, Oracle continues to empower organizations in Japan to embrace the benefits of cloud technology and drive digital transformation in the region.
